Anti Aging Laser Skin Tightening Treatments
You may have heard all about cosmetic laser treatments before, but you might think that they aren’t the right solution for you. After all, they only work on certain skin types, right? Well to a certain degree that can be true, at least when you’re talking about laser hair removal, but laser skin tightening is a whole other matter, which is lucky for those of us who have ever suffered from wrinkles or sagging skin.
How Skin Tightening Works Versus How Hair Removal Works
Lasers designed to remove hair work by focusing on specific spots on the surface of the skin. They target those spots usually by looking for dark areas (hair) against a light background (skin). Therefore, people with dark hair and light skin often see the best results from those kinds of treatments.
Skin tightening laser devices work in a completely different way. They don’t have to target specific spots. Instead, they try to target all of the skin cells in a given area, such as the arm or stomach. The point of these treatments is to cause the cells to become more active and start repairing themselves. As they do that, the bonds between them tend to tighten, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
In fact, it’s important to note that skin tightening is not just for those with one skin type or color. It’s also not just for those with sagging skin around their neck or face. It can be performed on the thighs, upper arms, stomach, or other areas that suffer from skin wrinkling or sagging. So, if you find yourself with the embarrassing problem of sagging skin, don’t let the location of it prevent you from exploring laser treatment.
How Many Treatments Will I Need in Order to Fix the Problem?
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as permanently fixing wrinkles or sagging skin. They are both a natural part of the aging process. You can have them treated, but they are likely to return eventually. That being said, you may need a few treatments several weeks apart to begin with. Then you should start to see a major improvement. However, months or perhaps years later, you may find yourself wanting to have more treatments to stay on top of the situation.
Will it Hurt and Will There Be Side Effects?
Most laser procedures are a little uncomfortable because they involve heating up the skin. So, you could feel a mild hot or burning sensation. Depending on the specific device that is used, you also might feel a light zapping sensation, like the zing feeling you could get from static electricity. However, you shouldn’t really feel any pain. If you do, you should tell your technician right away.
As for side effects, they’re usually not very common, except for a little post-procedure redness and swelling. That should go away within 48 hours or so. You might also have some mild blisters or bruises. Again, they should go away after a couple of days have passed. So, you should expect to be able to return to your normal daily life right after your treatment is finished.
