Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ll know who Dr Georgia Lee is. She is Singapore’s undisputed anti aging queen and celebrities flock to her in droves to maintain their looks. The first doctor to break news about the latest face-lifting machine, Ulthera (on my anti aging website, ReviewAntiAging.com) as well as purchase the $250,000 dream machine, patients of this doyenne can count on her to always be on the forefront of anti aging treatments.
Besides work, Dr Lee is also a doctor who sure knows how to have a good time! Whether it is attending the most stylish party in town or hosting her own shindig, you can count on her to show up looking spectacular. Not one to shy from fashion trends, be it D&G pyjamas or Balenciaga’s Bladerunner-esque tights, she wears them all with panache.
Ok, my mind is blank this week, hence this mundane post…
With money tighter than ever, you would expect aesthetic treatments to be the last thing on everyone’s mind. However, with the current job market, there is more pressure than ever to look young and attractive, which is sending people in droves to the doctor for minimally invasive procedures. These procedures have short to no recovery time, but can make you look younger and instill confidence on your job search.
Here’s an interesting article I found in Channel News Asia reporting about the trend:
More people are going for aesthetic treatments despite the recession, and what is interesting is that increasing numbers of them are men.
To look their best this festive season, some are pulling out all the stops.
Aesthetic service providers said business has increased some 30 per cent despite the recession.
Many go for botox and laser treatments to reduce ageing signs, while others opt to go under the knife to sharpen their image.
But if you think these only involve women, think again. Men now make up 15 per cent of clients.
Dr Gerard Tan, medical director, Neuglow, said: “Men also realise the importance of actually looking good. A lot of all these procedures are non-invasive and do not need much time.
“All they have to do is to come in for a simple procedure, may it be a botox injection or filling up a void in their face – just basically simple procedures. This has made them want to come in, more actually.”
Observers said people are more willing to invest in aesthetic treatments to get an edge in the job market – especially during an economic downturn.
Some have even gone to the point of getting non-scientifically proven treatments. These include cellular therapy and placenta injections which are supposed to regenerate youthful looks.
Currently, doctors need to seek approval from the Singapore Medical Council’s Aesthetic Practice Oversight Committee before offering such procedures. This is because they are not considered well-established practices in the aesthetic treatment field.
I was invited by Dr Georgia Lee to attend a Louis Vuitton party at the Ion today.
Dr Georgia Lee and I
I’ve known Dr Georgia Lee for more than 10 years. Back when she was a General Practitioner and when I was living near Holland Village. She’s always looked great and I would look forward to seeing what she’d wear – be it a Vietnamese dao or a chic dress.
We’ve kept in touch and she’s remained my gynae, even though she does not do gynae services for patients now.
It’s wonderful to see how successful she’s become as an aesthetic doctor, but it is not at all surprising. Dr Georgia Lee is one of the warmest and most helpful people I know. She takes the time to attend to you and when I got married four years ago, she gave me a complimentary IPL session. She’s also been extremely supportive of all my business ventures and I am very grateful for all her help!
If you are not aware, she’s started her own skincare line, which I received today in my goodie bag. Inside, there is a cleaner, scrub, toner, moisturiser and blotting paper, and I can’t wait to try them out! In fact, I will probably review them here. Watch this space!
p.s. It’s been a month of cancelled appointments and clashing schedules, hence the lack of reviews. Thanks for your patience. I am currently working on an exciting Anti Aging section featuring one of the most innovative products I came across at the Aesthetics Asia Exhibition and Convention
As I network and make my rounds in the aesthetics industry, I always get asked this question – Why did you start ReviewAntiAging.com? Yes, number one reason is vanity, because I would like to know and try anti aging treatments, but there is another more noble cause behind it.
IPL burns
I’ve had friends who have been burnt by IPL treatments or had suffered hyperpigmentation after laser treatments. Most of them did their treatments at beauty salons, not at aesthetic doctors. Aesthetic treatments when done with the right accredited doctors can really enhance your complexion and solve a magnitude of skin problems, not make things worse!
So, ReviewAntiAging.com was started to educate people on the proper procedures as well as point them in the right direction of aesthetic doctors who have been tested and approved. Everyone should have great skin, yet there are people walking around with acne, pitted scars, pigmentation, etc.
Hopefully, ReviewAntiAging.com will be the antidote to all that

I think we shouldn’t look down on aesthetic clinics located in the heartlands. By saving on their rental, these clinics are able to offer treatments to their patients at 30% less than the Orchard clinics – which I feel can be overpriced sometimes.
Check the doctor’s background and do some research on your own. For eg, you can find out what laser machines the Orchard ones are using and then see if the heartlander one is using the same machine. From what I know, most of them do have the latest machines.
Overall, I think it is great that there are aesthetic clinics in the heartlands who make aesthetic treatments available and affordable to the masses. Just be wary of those GPs who don’t even have a proper room to do laser treatments and everything looks makeshift, and please don’t do laser treatments/IPL at facial salons with therapists who are not aesthetic doctors!
