#Hairspo: Textured Lob – The Hairstyle Of My Dreams

Hair before - long and drab.

Hair before – long and drab.

I yoga, box and run almost on a daily basis so my hair has to keep up. Fussy haircuts are out, and wash and wear is my preferred choice. Over these active years, I’ve stuck to a basic (read: boring) haircut but lately, have been itching for a change. After all, I’m not 12 YO anymore and should have something more #sophisticated.

For my hair transformation, I sought the help of Eleanor Lee at CINQ Studio who’s an old friend and noted hair veteran who’s been in the industry for almost three decades (but she sure doesn’t look it!). In fact, she had rescued me from a hairy situation years back, when at a party, she told me that I looked like an “aunty” with my dated ponytail (don’t you just love the honesty of dear friends?). I immediately booked an appointment with her for a haircut after her remark. So, I knew my hair will be in good hands with her…and I was right!

The result: A textured lob (longer bob) to accommodate our humidity but still long enough for me to tie back during my workouts. It can be air-dried so that it is tousled or worn slick, depending on my mood. Zero fuss, 100% style. A lob is the perfect hairstyle for those looking for a cut that’s edgy and versatile yet simple and elegant. This ever-popular style has its limitations, though. Braids, ponytails, and all of your go-to ways of getting your hair out of your face in less than five minutes can be a bit challenging when you go shorter than shoulder length. This is no sweat for me as I simply opt for a half-up bun (aka the year’s coolest hairstyle – just ask Margaret Zhang and Gigi Hadid.) when I am working out or when the current sweltering heat gets too much for me.

Sun's out, (hair) buns out!

A week later, I’m back at my favourite head space CINQ Studio, for Eleanor to add subtle skin-flattering highlights – which involved complex colour mixing due to my previous dye jobs, to show off the layers of my lob and crank up the style factor! I heart my shorter and sassier do. I love how it instantly erased years and was so easy to maintain despite my constant workouts (adios comb and hairdryer!). Actually, the messier the better with this stylish ’do.

For extra TLC for my coloured locks, the L’Oreal Powerdose Color, a powerful, rinse-out repair treatment to restore and prolong hair colour was the last step to my hair journey. I loved that this was a time-efficient 30-minute treatment to seal in colour and preserve the vibrant shine of colour-treated hair.

Loving my easy yet stylish new 'do that made my recent trip to Japan such a breeze - eliminating time spent on hair means more time for nomsss.
