Technology
The GentleMAX system, a revolutionary long-pulse high energy Alexandrite Laser emits a beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicles where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat. This destroys the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. After a series of treatments, the follicles become sterile preventing the development of further hair growth in that follicle. Laser hair removal is a safe, effective and commonly used treatment, providing great results in the removal of unwanted hair in all areas of the body. It is however more suited for pigmented hair than it is with fine, blonde hair.
Individual treatments will vary according to skin and hair colour, the lighter your skin and the darker your hair, the better the results achieved. Laser permanently removes hair in follicles during the growth (Anagen) phase. At any time, about 85% of our hair is in the growth stage and will be removed by laser. During this stage the hair is most receptive to the laser as it is rich in protein, keratinised cells and melanin.
Treatment protocol:
The laser treatment felt like a gush of cool air on my skin, if anything, it is the snapping sound that is scary. After the treatment, which took less than 10 minutes, a Medlite C6 laser treatment was carried out to lighten pigmentation.
Although, most people will notice drastic hair reduction after the first session, a typical monthly treatment programme of about five to seven sessions is recommended for effective hair reduction.
Downtime:
Apart from slight redness, no downtime is needed allowing clients to resume their normal daily activities immediately after a treatment.
