ART by Verita’s Needleless Skin Booster mimics this treatment, but instead of using needles, it uses a freshwater sponge calledspongegilla lacustris, which has the structure of microscopic needles even when pounded into fine powder. All-natural and all-good, it is touted to minimise pores, firm skin, improve wrinkles and give an instant face lift.

After changing into my robe, my face was cleansed before a microdermabrasion using a wand that produces a gentle suction was used to remove dead skin cells. This was followed by a sleep-inducing acupressure massage with a moisturising lotion. Then the piece de resistance of this treatment: the application of the spongegilla plant powder. This caused a strange prickly sensation as my therapist applied the powder deep into the epidermis of my skin.
A mask made from coconut stem cells was then placed over the powder and left on for 15 minutes while I rested. Upon removal of my mask, a refreshing and soothing oxygen spray was administered all over my face to enhance the absorption of the essential vitamins and peptides. Finally, a moisturiser and sun screen was applied.
According to the spa consultant, my skin will look flushed over the next 36 hours as the product works to rejuvenate my skin from within. As the day progressed, my skin did become slightly redder, like I had just done a laser treatment or gone for a hot yoga session. My face also felt incredibly smooth. The prickly sensation was gone by the second day and my face had a natural healthy flush. My skin texture also looked more refined and even, no #filter needed!
