When it comes to skincare, we are really spoilt for choice – from break-the-bank potions to hi-tech thingamajigs promising to lift and tighten everything. Like most women, I’ve tried my fair share of treatments and as I get older, I find myself wanting to go back to the basics of good skincare – which is to get skin clean and healthy, and this led me to search for the best facial in town.

A short five-minute walk from Paragon Shopping Centre in Orchard, My Cozy Room is cozy indeed. I felt like I had stepped inside a giant dollhouse with cute Victorian furnishings, housing six girlie treatment rooms.

Treatment process:
A through facial extraction to remove all my trapped gunk.
After a consultation to discuss my skin concerns, I was brought to my treatment room to try their Premium Illumination Facial, which has been customised to my skin type.
My therapist first double cleansed my face, then applied an enzyme to loosen blackheads and dead skin. She performed the most thorough extraction next, scouring every inch of my skin for 30 minutes. She used her fingers, an extractor as well as a tweezer-like tool to pull out tiny blackheads. Despite all her efforts, the extraction process was actually bearable. It also felt good to get rid of all the gunk trapped in my face. She also covered areas that she had worked on with a soothing lotion, alleviating the redness.
A sleep-inducing massage with serum and moisturiser was my reward post-extraction. As a last step, a hydrating mask was applied, followed by a quick chest, shoulder and arm massage while we let the mask work its magic. To finish off this pampering treatment, a hyaluronic serum and moisturiser was applied.
Results:

My face after the facial. The slight redness was gone the next day leaving me with smooth, radiant skin.
My sensitive skin looked more radiant and clearer after the facial. It also felt a lot smoother with all my blackheads and clogged pores removed. Whatever slight redness that I had from the extraction was gone the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional style of this facial where instead of cold machine heads, I was treated to a comforting and highly tactile experience with lots of massages. Old is gold indeed in this case.
