Face on Fleek

Touted to be better than Thermage and Ulthera, we put our face to the test with Fotona 5D Laser Lift.

What a year 2020 has been! This unprecedented year has definitely added a few worry lines and white hair to me. And with the new year looming, I was determined to erase the worries of this year with a revolutionary treatment—the Fotona 5D Laser Lift!

New year, new face!

New year, new face!

The Fotona 4D / 5D Laser Lift & Rejuvenation is a 4-or 5-step laser treatment that uses lasers operating at two different wavelengths (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG). This treatment is used to tackle a variety of skin concerns with four modes that work synergistically to penetrate into the deeper, medial, and superficial connective structures of the skin for a more cohesive overall result compared to individual and separate treatments. On top of the four steps covered in the conventional Fotona 4D laser, SL Aesthetic Clinic has developed a fifth step to enhance the overall face lifting result which encompasses a laser treatment on the hairline and neck to achieve increased lifting effects from the 4D protocol.

Compared to Thermage and Ulthera which focuses mostly on skin tightening, the Fotona 4D Laser is an all-in-one procedure that treats skin laxity, wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven skin tone and facial texture. Sweeeet!

Treatment procedure:

After cleaning my face, a numbing cream was applied for 30 to 45 minutes before Dr Kelvin Chua started his treatment. The first part was a laser inside my mouth to lift my cheeks and nasolabial areas. This felt strange but was tolerable. Some heat was felt at the more sensitive areas near my gums. This was followed by three other lasers for skin tightening and lifting, as well as a last one for skin texture. Even the back of my neck was lasered to lift and smoothen any semblance of “turkey” neck.

The 5th D which is developed by SL Aesthetic Clinic includes the laser treatment on the hairline and neck.

I wouldn’t say that the hour-long procedure was completely painless but the heat I felt was bearable and two of the lasers even came with cooling fans to ease the discomfort. To finish the treatment, a moisturiser and sunblock was applied.

The Fotona 5D Laser Lift & Rejuvenation stimulates collagen to improve skin tightness and elasticity.

My skin was slightly rosy and felt taut immediately post-laser. Dr Chua said that I can expect some itchiness and slight flakiness over the next few days, with results apparent after a week.

2021, I am ready for you with renewed hope, positivity…and my #faceonfleek!
